We select the highest quality timbers before handcrafting our shells in our cold-moulding process to maintain the sonic integrity of the wood. Our Palladium hardware graces each drum and every single detail is checked with a forensic accuracy before our exacting quality control signs off the products prior to delivery to our customers.

Axial is the brand new range of advanced technology pipe band drums from the British Drum Co.
Handcrafted in the UK to British Drum Co.’s highest standards, the Axial range represents a seminal moment in the evolution of pipe band drums. Featuring a snare drum, tenor drum and bass drum, the Axial range is both visually stunning and technically impressive.
Axial is the high-tension snare drum reinvented!
Axial takes the concept of a high-tension, free-floating system to unsurpassed levels of innovation and performance.
Each drum is handbuilt using our unique cold-press moulding process to create an 8ply grade A Scandinavian Birch shell and features our revolutionary N-Circle™ bearing edge system. Axial hardware has been designed and precision engineered using low-mass, high-strength metals for optimum functionality.
Every Axial drum is supplied with a British Drum Co.

Featuring our brand new Patent Pending Direct Drive snare mechanisms for optimum parallel snare positioning. Axial’s distinctive aesthetic owes much to its X-Frame™ cage-style tension system. This futuristic anodised aluminium hardware is designed to complement the out of this world shell finish options.

DIRECT DRIVE UPPER SNARE
Our Patent Pending snare mechanism is precision engineered from super-light aircraft grade aluminium. This innovative upper snare mechanism guarantees optimum parallel snare wire positioning with a single, uncomplicated adjustment.
DIRECT DRIVE LOWER SNARE
Snare height is operated by thumbscrews meaning 100% tool-less adjustment for extremely effective snare response. The elegant design offers fast snare wire changes and ensures snare wires will not move during normal playing.

X-FRAME SYSTEM
The Axial snare drum features our revolutionary X-Frame™ cage-style tension system
N-CIRCLE BEARING EDGES
N-Circle™ is a revolution in snare drum bearing-edge technology.
Designed to equalise the distribution of tension across the bottom head, N-Circle™ is a finely tuned piece of engineering which acts as a vital component in the Axial snare drum.
Precision crafted from high-density composite materials, N-Circle™ utilises a 45º round over bearing-edge providing the optimum balance between head contact and tension for controlled tuning and excellent playability.
The resulting increase in structural strength creates a more resilient shell and allows for higher tension throughout the drum.
GRAVITY FED HOOPS
Gravity-fed cast aluminium top hoops feature 12 x tension rods for controlled high-tension tuning
TENOR DRUM
Axial Tenor Drum - Built to the same exacting standards as our innovative Axial snare drum. Featuring the Flipback™ with Nitrile “O” rings to eliminate detuning and SecureLoc™ tension systems with pivoting captive claws for fast, problem-free head changes.
The Tenor drum uses specially designed super lightweight aluminium components and is available in the full range of shell and hardware colour options in the Axial range.

BASS DRUM
Axial Bass Drum - Designed to complement the Axial Snare and Tenor drums, the Axial Bass Drum is handcrafted with 8ply Scandinavian Birch using our unique cold-press moulding process. The inclusion of our FlipBack™ quick release system and SecureLoc™ tensioning system allows for fast and easy head changes.
The Axial Bass drum features a multi-position carry rail for custom placing of harnesses.
